Throw a coin in the air and we always know what side we want it to land on – The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel

Throw a coin in the air and we always know what side we want it to land on.

Let me start the article with that quote. If you are wondering why I choose that quotes out of all amazing words that have spoken in the film, it is because I love flipping coins. Why makes life harder than what it already is. Flipping coins can easily help you with your decision.

I finally was able to watch The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel after it has been in the cinema for such a long time. It is a story about love, dreams, hope, trust, and happiness. It is a simple film about life, not about young people but about people who are old. If you have seen the first movie than you would roughly know what this movie is all about.

The stories begin with Muriel Donnelly played by the lovely Maggie Smith and Sonny Kapoor (Dev Patel) in their journey of trying to find investors in America that are willing to invest on their dream in expanding the hotel. This film revolves around the story of 13 characters that live in India. Although they are all elderly people but they live their lives like young kids in their early twenties. They fell in love, travel, dealt with affairs, trying to trust their spouse.

This movie is simply very entertaining. The comedy was hilarious and you would not be able to missed it. It is a perfect movie to watch without having to think about anything. But despite all the loveliness that came out of the film, this movie was a bit predictable. You will expect that the character played by Tamsin Greig is one of the hotel inspector. You will also immediately guess that Madge Hardcastle (Celia Imrie) will fall for her driver. Thankfully, the movie give a nice turn, making Guy Chambers (Richard Gere), the real hotel inspector, and leave us a mystery to whether Muriel Donnelly will survive her sickness. Not forgetting the little love story from the character Judy Dench (Evelyn Greenslade) and Douglas Ainslie (Billy Nighy). I guess that is what it would be like to fall in love again when you are like in your 70s.

As for the funny scenes from the movie, one can’t just simple explain it through wordings. You need to view the movie in order to know how entertaining the movie was. And what I love the most about the comedy in this movie was it is not even a study funny comedy. It was just a comedy that can actual makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. I must say that the script of this movie made me think that people could never live alone. People who live in that hotel might come from a whole different background, but they need each other and it seems like they are a big family. And that what makes this movie very entertaining.
